I’m apparently really bad at keeping up with my blog. Good thing I set low expectations for myself!
I’ve started two new projects. I’m still in the “baking” stages.
The first is a fairytale retelling of The Snow Queen. I have a preliminary cover, title, and map – all of which make me excited. The outline is there, and the more I work on things like the map, the more details start to come out.
Rant: I don’t know why the fairytale was named for the queen. She’s barely in it. The story should’ve been named for Gerda (side note: I’m changing her name). Gerda literally goes through a hellish journey to find Kay and for some reason Hans Christian Anderson chose to name the whole thing after the queen.
The second is a fairytale retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. This one will be a mystery retelling from the wolf’s perspective. I have a map that I’m absolutely in love with. I have a couple covers and titles I’m not completely sold on yet.
I’m excited for both. I also have the third book in my fantasy series that needs to be finished. It’s been set aside so many times I’m surprised it hasn’t just left me. It’s been so patiently waiting for me to write it.
I’m planning to start writing in October. That could change if life-situation changes. But I’m excited (and nervous) to get the ball rolling.
Until next time,
Ellen
