Author Journal – 31 Days of Writing: Day 11

I’ve done all the brainstorming I can think to do.
I’ve written the outline.
I’ve filled in preliminary details for each chapter.

Tomorrow it’s time to start writing the Red Riding Hood mystery. I’ll start The Snow Queen retelling soon. But I would love to finish writing RRH by the end of the year. I have 90 days left. It might be too ambitious with current life events. But there’s only one way to find out.

I wrote most of the first draft of my Seven Ravens retelling (A Curse of Feathers & Fools) in a month. I think I completed it within a little over 2 months. So 3 months shouldn’t be too far-fetched.

Right?

Right.

I’m not at all nervous. Not even a little bit. I’m totally calm, cool, and collected. I have zero doubts. It doesn’t matter that I’ve successfully finished and published 3 other books, somehow this will be my failure.

*insert forehead smack*

Imposter Syndrome is a fun ride!

There, that’s enough rambling from me for now.

I’m excited about this project. We’ll see what happens. Maybe I’ll be able to publish two books next year like I’m hoping!

Side note: Fall is coming and it feels like the perfect time to start writing a murder mystery that takes place in a wooded area. The map is all fall colors. Hopefully the trees turn the most glorious shades of red, yellow, and orange. They did last year.

Until next time,
Ellen
