Early Praise for Then There Was Red
An excellent reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood in a “who done it?” style. It kept me engaged and guessing through the entire book. Even when I thought I had it figured out, the final big scene revealed I didn’t have it quite right. Great read!
Lisa T, Then There Was Red

A curse long hidden.
A kingdom in danger.
A princess on the hunt.
Sarilda is the only daughter of King Otto and Queen Ada. On her 16th birthday, she discovers she is to be married to a neighboring prince as payment for a debt owed by her father. Desperate to save herself from a fate she considers to be worse than death, and her kingdom and family from war, the princess sets out to find her long-lost brothers.
Join Sarilda in this reimagining of the classic fairytale “The Seven Ravens”. Fans of the tropes “the princess saves herself” and “the princess saves the kingdom” will enjoy this tale of friendship, sacrifice, and courage.

Please note that there are many different versions of this fairytale. Some claim the man at the beginning of the story was a peasant, others a king, and others don’t mention who he was at all.
This story is intended for a young adult audience (ages 12-18). This is a zero-romance story.
I just finished reading Curse of Feathers and Fools. If you love authentic voice with strong female leads, this book will not disappoint. The author has created her own fairytale land with faeries and magic, and adventures that kept the pages turning for a delightful and quick read. I highly recommend for YA reading and for young at heart adults who still love adventurous stories in magical lands!

I was hooked with the first sentence and it just kept getting better. I also really like the amount of detail and heart that was obviously put into the book. If I could break the scale for this, I would, because even though it’s not my normal romance fantasy read, I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and the story. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes to read, no matter what your usual is.
Amelia, A Curse of Feathers & Fools
A cosy Fairytale retelling of the Seven Swans.
YA and minimal romance. Well none really.
It’s short and rather short on detail, that is world building or background on characters but then it isn’t a big sprawling epic Fantasy either.
Well worth a read.

The Legends of Zale

“I got tired of letting the darkness win.”
In the gritty depths of the Slums of Shantu, where poverty and crime reign unchecked, lies a tale of resilience, magic, and untold power.
Eliora, a spirited orphan, finds herself on a perilous journey in the haunted land of Zale as she seeks to defeat an evil witch hungry for absolute control.
On a quest for the mystical book that wields dominion over nightmares, Eliora’s fate becomes intertwined with that of Hadithi, a mysterious figure known only as a Shadow of Shantu.
As Eliora navigates the treacherous landscape of Zale, she learns that her abilities far surpass her humble beginning. Alongside a determined warrior seeking redemption for his father’s crimes, Eliora must confront her deepest fears and harness her newfound strength to confront the darkness threatening to engulf the world.
In a world where nightmares come to life, Eliora’s journey is only just beginning, and the true extent of her power is yet to be revealed.

“Together we rise as brothers of the Shadows.”
The people of the Slums were left to rot.
Governor Aepep sat in his mansion.
Starving children wandered the Slums of Shantu.
Yuvraj and Tyr dream of the day when they might take their rightful place as children of the governor who disowned them. Together they choose to fight the tyranny, training with an Elf named Chantrea. Gathering other orphaned children like themselves, the two boys organize a rebellion as they aid the people of the Slums.
Will this fight become a drop of hope in a sea of misery or burn on the battlefield before it’s truly begun?
Into the shadows you cast us,
So, from the shadows we rise,
Until, as Shadows, we emerge:
victorious.
We’re coming.
Son of Kings is a Prequel to Child of Shadows and Book Two in the series The Legends of Zale. Told by Yuvraj, it reveals the origins of the Shadows of Shantu and centers around the conflict swirling inside Yuvraj as he seeks to find his place in the world.

“Eliora. Help me, please.”
Ten years have passed since Eliora rewrote The Book of Nightmares and broke the curse that bound the land.
Castle Island has become a thriving home. Zale appears to be healing. Hardwin has grown into a happy teenager.
But Eliora’s dreams have begun to haunt her once more. Every night the same vision of a woman she doesn’t know pleads with Eliora to save her. Together with Hardwin, Einar, Sadiki, and a reluctant mule, Eliora ventures deep into the silent Faerie Mountains in search of answers.
Once upon a time, Eliora believed rewriting the book would save Zale. But what if the nightmare has become reality?
“My son (age 12 at the time) devoured “Child of Shadows” from delivery to done in about 48 hours. We caught him under his blanket with a flashlight reading late at night multiple times! I have finally been able to finish it as well, but it took me longer since he wanted to read it a second time and he kept taking it back from me!
We can’t wait for the next book in the series!”

“I’m seriously so thankful for my friend that recommended this book to me. I read it through in one session, unable to put it down. I felt so many emotions while reading this and I’m honestly still too overwhelmed to write a coherent/detailed review.
I’d recommend this book to anyone in a heartbeat. And I’m very excited for Book 2 of this series!”
Kori Moon, Child of Shadows
“I really enjoyed this plot. It was a very interesting concept.
After reading the first three chapters of the main character’s harsh reality as an orphan, and the author’s intense description of stealing, then consuming a loaf of bread, I was obsessed. This book made me devour half a loaf of bread the same day.
In short, this story will seep into you.”
Richard M. McGee Jr., Child of Shadows
“I haven’t read any other books by this author but let me tell you, I’m hooked! Ellen did a fantastic job of drawing you in and I couldn’t put it down once I started. I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2…or should I say 1 since this was the prequel? Either way, new favorite!”
Tara, Son of Kings Review
“This was an enjoyable story getting to know the origins of the Shadows….and what they could have been. Learn some of the reasoning and story behind (why) the characters are the way they are…and get some daring adventures to go with it!”
